Then, Again
'Then, Again' is an experimental, interpretive narrative short film set in the mid 1940s. The Film focuses on the effects of grief & loss from a morbidly beautiful perspective. Marie, finds herself alone wandering the quiet halls and empty rooms of an isolated Manor House. Only music extinguishes the deafening silence of the house. Trapped each day living the same routine over and over, and over again, Marie slowly fades away, like breath on a mirror. Is she alone, or waiting for someone?

The day you lose someone, although it may not seem so, isn't the worst - It's all the days they stay gone...

Take 2 Indie Review
Set in the mid 1940’s Then, Again is a stunningly beautiful interpretive film that focuses on the themes of loss and isolation. It is presented with a very simple, minimalistic style thanks to the careful direction of Hannah Richardson and Edward Thompson, who also wrote the film. And there is no dialogue. The story is meticulously crafted to follow the character of Marie, played brilliantly by Richardson, with solely gorgeous visuals and haunting music (Richardson and Thompson).
UK Film Review
The mise-en-scene effectively brings the viewer back to the nineteen-forties and the music sounds like it is from that period and it is a joy to listen to. The film is beautifully directed and includes wonderful shots of nature. There are also creative lighting techniques. Particular praise goes to a mesmerising dancing scene that makes great use of dissolve editing techniques.

MARIE - HANNAH RICHARDSON
Hannah Richardson’s performance in the role of ‘Marie’ projected the professionalism and immersion of the film beyond the intended narrative. Her complex use of emotion was integral to the characters development from start to finish. Being able to discover importance and meaning in the smallest of moments allowed us to see further behind the context of the film. Having the ability to absorb the audiences perspective and inhabit the room alongside ‘Marie’ gave a sense of surreal immersion in the narratives most emotionally driven moments.
Soundtrack
Being a crew of only two has given us great freedom over the project, allowing us to work with the film as it naturally developed. It was very important to us that as much of the film as possible would be produced from 'scratch'.
Performing and recording our own covers for music was a great chance to delve into another area of the creative process. Using as many practically achievable means as necessary on set was something that helped the narrative develop organically, we played towards new and exiting spontaneous creative decisions.
