A SECOND SHADOW

Set in a dystopian 1980s England, 'A Second Shadow' is a short film that explores the ideas of good and evil, and how both can change us. In a world without humanity, there is no room for Innocence...

Set on the North Yorkshire Moors, the bleak landscape reflects the solitary tone of the film. Breaking the mould of the crime drama genre, Passage gives us a new interpretation of the criminal underworld of the 1980s. We follow Henry, a seemingly ordinary individual whose profession sees him smuggling criminals across the Scottish Border. Henry questions his morality as he is forced to embrace a darker side of himself in order to complete his job. How far gone are we till our reflection mirrors false.

Production Progress 2023

'A Second Shadow' is currently in the post-production process, with the hopes of a 2023 release. We intend to push the film through the Film Festival Circuit to give the film and the work put into it by cast and crew the recognition it deserves. With production taking place during the beginning of the Pandemic, the project has met its fair share of stalls, however with the extended commitment of the crew we aim to stick to our 2023 release.

Steve Wilcox - Henry

Talented actor & musician Steve Wilcox brings a subtly dark perspective to Henry's character. Understanding and playing to the moral ambiguity of each decision the character makes. Steves performance is a perfect accompaniment to the dark, bleak & grounded tone of the film.

Not only has Steve delivered a captivating performance, but he has also provided Original Pieces composed by himself for the film's Original soundtrack.

Mike Richards

Mike's performance as the supporting lead was a perfect match to the design of his character. Mike was able to portray a volatile, unpredictability natured individual with great certainty. He balanced the stability of his character with the dark & grounded undertones of the film very well, when called upon to deliver the performance leading to the tonal shift of the narrative he was able to do so with accuracy.

Michael Tate

Michael Tate provided a brilliant, convincing performance as our Police Officer.  Michael was able to portray a character that provided a greater depth to the world of the film our narrative is set. Having only a small role, he was instrumental in setting the tone & genre of the film from the very beginning.

Hannah Richardson

Whilst only being a small role, Hannah Richardson provided a stark contrast to the morbidly surreal tone of the film. The daughter character served as an anchor Henry. The known, reaching out to the unknown. Hannah's performance can be heard as a voice over in the film and also seen as a short promotional teaser for the film.

The Police Car

Paul Walsh provided 'Passage' a restored GMP Ford Capri Police car. Fit from top to bottom with working siren & lights. Perfectly setting the meis-en-scene of the film, it was a delight to have such a wonderful piece to work with on set. Paul spent 12 months rebuilding D444 KVM, a former Greater Manchester Police car. Paul's Capri delivered the iconic look and presence that even DCI Gene Hunt would appreciate...
